In the automotive industry a specific technical quality standard was developed. This TS 16949 applies only on companies which have actual manuafacturing processing (or assembly) activities. The TS 16949 is a standard in which a lot of stress is given to the risks in the manufacturing process. For this Failure Mode Effect Analyses (FMEA) have to be set up. The standards shows similarities with ISO 9001 but is stricter and extended to for instance FMEA, SPC, process- and product auditing.
